I am in no way some sort of expert, or even particularly "good" at it (still can't touch my heels to the floor in downward dog!) but it really helps to calm and centre me, especially during pregnancy. It's not the first time I've been, my mum grew up there and I used to visit all the time as a child, but I haven't been in about 10 years. I drove down there, which took about 3 hours and was quite a big deal for me! I feel like July has been a bit up and down - I love love love summer usually but obviously this month has been unlike any other summer. I started the month feeling really fed up with working from home and felt a bit like I was just existing and not enjoying life. That sounds quite dramatic, but I think THESE TIMES make any emotions feel a bit times iwishicouldwinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04146536606205470205noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2530119986910906804.post-88446246857495355682020-07-13T10:48:00.000+01:002020-07-13T10:48:02.132+01:00Money Diary during coronavirus I very much enjoyed doing a money diary back in February (yep, seems like 10 years ago now!) so I thought I'd do another, in this brave NeW n0rmAl we find ourselves in.

My hobby of choice during the lockdown as undoubtedly been baking stuff. With little else to occupy my busy hands, I have turned to Pinterest, my small collection of cookbooks and my trusty saved recipe folder (a physical folder!) and kneaded, proved, mixed to my heart's content.

I've decided to change the format of these posts, as they were getting a bit brain dump-y.
Instead of just listing everything I've done, I'm going to write about 7 things I loved across all the categories I used to cover - reading, listening, watching, buying, eating, enjoying on Instagram and so on and so forth, and then some links. Might include something I didn't enjoy as well just for iwishicouldwinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04146536606205470205noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2530119986910906804.post-64030703583933465732020-06-21T11:06:00.000+01:002020-06-22T14:23:31.376+01:00Black Lives Matter

I am swapping my May monthly round up to talk about the Black Lives Matter movement. I have always, like many other people, considered myself non-racist. However, it's only been recently that I have been shown that being passively anti-racist is not enough. I need to be actively anti-racist; educate, donate, have discussions. Diversify my social media feed iwishicouldwinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04146536606205470205noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2530119986910906804.post-14176843448428755412020-05-27T08:00:00.000+01:002020-05-27T08:00:10.111+01:00My working from home routineSince my first foray into documenting my morning routine, a lot has changed. I still love a routine though. So this is what we do now.

I love Pinterest. It's such a fun, sparkly space without the heaviness of Twitter or the one-up-man-ship of Instagram. I think it gets overlooked somewhat because it is more lighthearted, but I find it to be an important resource not only for blogging but for general organisation. It is a real gem when it comes to finding recipes. outfit inspiration, home ideas and more, but actually iwishicouldwinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04146536606205470205noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2530119986910906804.post-9022006080250869322020-05-10T18:46:00.000+01:002020-05-10T18:46:27.740+01:00My favourite fashion buys of all time
Now more than ever, I am cherishing my favourite wardrobe pieces, the bits I wear again and again . Not having a real reason to get dressed everyday means I'm seeing all my clothes in a new, exciting light. I can't wait to put together outfits again!
This attitude fits in nicely with the slow fashion movement as well, which I've been embracing increasingly in the past year or so, rejecting iwishicouldwinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04146536606205470205noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2530119986910906804.post-20023521831664059682020-05-06T20:41:00.000+01:002020-05-06T20:41:39.310+01:00Top tip: Play games with your Alexa

Rich and I have started playing games with our Alexa, and it is fun! Especially during lockdown, when you have lots more time to spend with whoever you're living with. I read an article recently about finding a book where nothing bad happens. The writer basically concluded that it was impossible, but it got me thinking that books can be a balm for all sorts of ailments. At the moment, the corresponding emotions are likely to need three remedies: embrace the sorrow and have a cathartic sob, try and forget about events completely and be transported, or iwishicouldwinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04146536606205470205noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2530119986910906804.post-88335038727809080302020-04-05T20:37:00.001+01:002024-01-11T09:31:09.351+00:00My lockdown list & a template to create your own!
I have been seeing a lot of Instagram posts about the fact that you don't have to be productive during a global pandemic. And I totally agree. You're not just on gardening leave or cramming in a bit of your holiday time before the tax year finishes. Anxieties, worries are heightened, everything is unsure. A lot of us still have to work. Some of us have to look after kids or other family iwishicouldwinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04146536606205470205noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2530119986910906804.post-61431748636666114882020-04-01T19:51:00.000+01:002020-04-01T19:51:30.638+01:00Notes from March 2020
I usually start writing these monthly updates at the end of the previous month, so I can add bits when they happen throughout the month. What a difference between the end of February and now HUH? I refuse to use any of the following phrases: uncertain times, wild times, crazy times, basically anything with the phrase 'these times', because why are we all suddenly talking like iwishicouldwinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04146536606205470205noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2530119986910906804.post-47732277615875205462020-03-08T09:00:00.000+00:002020-03-08T11:00:25.358+00:007 women I would like to meet

I have now perfected my routine so that it takes 1 hour and 15 minutes from waking up to leaving the house. That might seem excessive but I would so rather have more than enough time than rush. I have always been an early riser anyway so early mornings aren't a huge problem for me (although I admit it's much easier in the summer than the dark, cold, wet winter).

I love reading Refinery 29’s money diaries because they embody that sweet spot of nosiness
and people’s ‘boring’ everyday lives that I love so much. I also live for the comments,
even though people be judgmental boy! I decided to write my own, albeit in a slightly different format as the R29 ones are anonymous so I’m not revealing details about my job and how much I earn etc.

Hello friends.
I have had this blog
for a long ass time. Since 2009 in fact. I often don't like to tell people
that, because I feel like it makes me sound like a bit of a failure. I haven't
got a million followers, I'm not a #influencer. I mean, I've never been super consistent,
which probably plays a part, but who knows why I'm not raking in the followers
and all the sweet blogging iwishicouldwinkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04146536606205470205noreply@blogger.com0
