New In: Primark Purchases

So this is the first blog post in a while! After sticking to a strict schedule for a year, it's all gone out the window since I've been back in the UK, but from next week I'm gonna get back to the regularly scheduled programme.

Obviously one of the first things I did was go straight to Primark, where I picked up these cosy jumpers (it annoys me slightly how they now seem to be referred to as 'knits' - when did that happen?!?), be-autiful heels and the cutest shoes known to man. Pom poms on everything please! In other news, I've been looking for a wedding dress which to be honest is proving a right ball-ache. I'm just SO picky and so many dresses are exactly the same! I hold out hope that I will find the one for me.

Thanks for reading!

ASOS Wishlist

I still have some dolla remaining an old ASOS voucher so I did some hardcore searching and found lots of gems I would like to call my own...

1. A pom-pom, on a shoe? Yes please! These would make me feel like Tinkerbell, however I'm pretty sure they would get ruined on the first outing - nude plus satin plus fluff plus October is not a good mix I fear. They do have them in black but it's just not so precious is it?

2. I think these would look equally cool with white trainers as they would with heels.

3. I still love the lace up front trend that's doing the rounds, and I sure do love that rust colour on this Mango dress. I do think it looks maybe a tad too over-sized though?

4. This bright pinafore looks a tiny bit toddler-ish but I'm going to fully embrace my inner 5 year old because it's so cute.

5. I've been wanting a material strap watch for a while now and this New Look one is only £9.99! I like the thin strap, I think it looks quite elegant.

6. You can't really go wrong with a grey knit can you? This one would be nice layered over a white shirt.

7. I've decided I need to buy a coat that actually does up and keeps me warm. I've got multiple coats with one or two buttons but they don't really cut it in the cosy stakes. And of course, camel is the obvious choice.

8. Love the maxi tops that I've been seeing around lately, and I think this would look cute on a night out over some leather shorts.

9. I've wanted some blacked pointed heeled boots forEVER. These are slightly too high for everyday wear but I do love the simplicity of them, plus they're quite the bargain.

Now I just need to decide what to choose...help me in the comments please!

10 Things I'll Miss About Dubai

As mentioned in a previous blog post, I'm leaving Dubai and moving back to the UK. Whilst I am very much looking forward to it, there are some little things that I will definitely miss (not including my boyfriend and the lovely people I've met, which goes without saying)...

1. Never having to wear tights

I can't describe how much wearing tights annoys me. I can never find the perfect shade of black. They are binding, They ruin outfits. They are just a pain in my ass.

2. My washing dries in under 2 hours

No need to faff about with a tumble dryer or pegs on a washing line. Just pop that shizz on the clothes horse and onto the balcony and let the ridiculously hot temperatures do their work.

3. The OOTD backgrounds

The palm trees, the lighting, the sunsets, the desert... how I do not wish to swap you for my garden shed.

4. The abundance of American restaurants and shops

I've thoroughly enjoyed sampling American chain restaurants/shops whilst I've lived here. I'll miss the smell of Coldstone Creamery at the entrance to Mall of the Emirates, and the mouthwatering handsoaps from Bath and Bodyworks.

5. The abundance of watermelon

Watermelon is everywhere here, and it used to be part of my routine to buy a little pot for Dhs 3 (about 50p) every morning to eat at my desk before everyone else came in. I'll miss that the ready cut up fruit in supermarkets here is actually cut up by the staff and packaged on the same day and not flown in from who knows where then sat on the shelf for weeks, thus losing 99% of its nutritional value.

6. Ladies Nights

I don't think I took advantage of Ladies Nights enough during the year I was here. I will miss going out and - shock horror - having to pay for my own drinks. What do you mean the first 3 aren't free?

7. Cheap transport

Taxi up the road in London? About a tenner. In Dubai? About £1.50. Journey into work in Dubai? 50p on the tram. And I ALWAYS get a seat. I will miss this a lot.

8. Tanning on Tap

I've been off work since Monday and sod's law, the weather has been cloudy, windy and dusty for 3 days. It was nice today so I made the most of the tanning situation and led by the pool most of the day. I will miss being able to go from pool to sun lounger and repeat on the weekend.

9. Free gym

I mean not technically free as it's all included in the price of the rent but still, I sure will miss having access to a fully equipped gym just a minute's lift ride away.

10. Amy's vegetarian burgers

Last but not least, I will be tres upset not to be able to get the Amy's range in the UK. It's an American frozen vegetarian food range, and the garden vegetable burgers are beyond delicious. I'm jealous of you USA peeps!

Per Aquum Desert Palm

Horse why you so sad?

I've been a bad blogger this week and missed Sunday's post. Shame on me. In my defence I had a work event on Sunday and there was some last minute organising to be done on Saturday night so I kind of half-forgot, half-just-wanted-to-lie-down.

Anyway, last week me and the boyf stayed at Per Aquum Desert Palm, a hotel in Dubai. After a LONG hour and half taxi ride, we arrived and went pretty much straight to dinner at one of the hotel's restaurants, Rare. I find that whilst a lot of restaurants in Dubai don't cater particularly well for vegetarians, they are often open to making something off menu for me, which is much appreciated. I had a waldorf salad for starter, mushroom risotto for main and trio of creme brulee for dessert. It was a nice meal, but I'm not going to lie, and this sounds horribly first world problems, but I'm not a massive fan of haute cuisine or whatever if's called when you get a smear of tomato reduction and a blob of cheese foam. Sometimes I just want pie and some mash or something. I did like that they made me a bespoke cocktail though, it was a Cosmopolitan but with a twist - it had an amaretto tasting ingredient that made it delicious.

We stayed on a weekday which was a bit of a shame as we had work the next day so pretty much had breakfast and then went (delicious hash browns). I would have liked to have stayed and sunbathed, as the infinity pool looked amazing!
