12 Habits - Cold Showers
How bloody cute is this doodle? It was made by my friend Janine, who I worked with in Dubai. She is super talented and came to my rescue, as I racked my brains but could not think of an appropriate image to use for this habit without being reported and struck off the blogger register.
So, disclaimer aside, my second habit of 2019 is cold showers. I should point out that I did not have entirely cold showers, as in the shower water wasn't cold from start to finish. Instead I blasted myself at the end of each session with the cold tap for about 10 - 15 seconds.
A cold shower is supposed to have many benefits - from the obvious, like waking you up and cutting through morning head fog, to relieving anxiety and increasing productivity. Whether these benefits still count when just doing a blast of cold at the end of the shower I don't know, but they did the job of making me feel bright eyed and bushy tailed at 5:45am.
In fact, I like it so much that this is the first habit I'm going to carry on with. To quote Joey to Pacey in Dawson's Creek (current reference klaxon), it makes me feel alive. I can't really ask for more from a free habit to be honest.
Since I started this trick I've also had two compliments on my hair. Sure this could be a coincidence but I've been using the same shampoo for about 4 years (L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology I see you) and last had a haircut in January so I can't think of anything else it could be.
If you want to try it yourself, ease in gradually by turning the hot down so the shower is cool for the first few tries, then once you've mastered that go full on cold mode for as long as you can stand it.
March's habit is to write/prepare blog posts for at least 15 minutes a day!
