Doing...
My friend Rosie and I signed up for a 10K in May! One of my 19 for 2019 is to run a 10K so I'm looking forward to completing it and ticking it off my list. I normally use the Nike run app to track my runs so I have set up a programme to train me for the run. I'm enjoying it but a) the language they use makes me want to hurl ('You're a rock star') and b) sometimes the tasks are confusing and come with little instruction.
Buying...
I had the most cracking treatment at the Lush spa at the beginning of this month, and bought some plastic free treats afterwards. I've been pleasantly surprised by the solid shampoo and conditioner, although I do think I am having to wash my hair slightly more than usual. The shampoo in particular has impressed me, as I thought it would pale in comparison to a 'normal' shampoo but it lathers and washes in basically the exact same way. Also bought the Scrubee body scrub/moisturiser body bar which smells HEAVENLY.
Reading...
The book Declutter was first on my list, I heard the author discussing it on Woman's Hour and it sounded handy, which it was. I feel inspired to tackle my wardrobe and tidy my full-of-crap drawers. I also read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which I found on our bookshelf and thought why not. It is better than I thought it would be, reminds me of American Psycho which is one of the best books I've ever read. I recently finished 'The Longest Memory' which is a book my parents were clearing out - it's about slavery told from various character perspectives. I wouldn't say it was a 'good' read, because the subject matter is pretty bleak, but it's certainly eye opening.
Internet articles I enjoyed this month include:
- these two Vogue pieces from their American Women: The West series - the photography from The Hills: New Beginnings and The Ocean Women of Oahu is so dreamy.
- This article about taking Instagram or blog photos outside people's homes has also been doing the rounds... it makes for a really interesting read about a very modern issue.
- As a millenial who can remember the thrilling, clunky whir of the internet starting up, this article recalling first internet experiences was a fun, nostalgic read.
- 'Slow Living' is quite the trend...this Stylist piece makes me want to run away for Wales for the weekend
Eating...
Rich and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary this on 5th March and as it was pancake day we indulged in a lunchtime treat at Rocotillos and oh Lordy they were G O O D. I had the choc chip stack with butter and syrup and I've already been again with my pal from work as it is 5 minutes away from our office. Dangerous.
Watching...
I've finally seen all 10 seasons of Ru Paul's Drag Race! It is the best thing in the world and I'm buzzing to start Season 11. I'm also loving Alan Partridge's return to the BBC, and enduring Season 5 of Dawson's Creek which I'm watching to listen along with one of my favourite podcasts, Dawson's Speak. In terms of films, I watched Green Book at the cinema which immediately went into my favourite film of the year so far category, and The Hate U Give on DVD which was emotional and excellent (and had a banging soundtrack).
What have you been doing in March?
